Maryland Sex Offender Map

Maryland’s Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services is in charge of maintaining their sex offender registry. The amount of sex offenders that are registered in the state has doubled in less than a decade. In 2005, the state had around 4,250. In 2013, that number is just below 8,500. Registration rules differ depending on the level of risk the offender poses to society. Depending on the offense they committed, a sexual offender may have to register every three to six months. Plus, they must always register in person. Meanwhile, the offender has only three days to notify authorities when any of their registered information is modified. Offenders are required to be registered for no less than fifteen years, and the only other way they will no longer be listed in Maryland’s database is if they move or die.
